Power outage to end in next two years: DPM Rayamahji

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Energy, Top Bahadur Rayamahji on Saturday said the country would be freed of power outage within the next two years.

Inaugurating the 14th Annual General Assembly of Bidhyut Cooperative Ltd in Lalitpur district, DPM Rayamahji expressed commitment to strengthen energy development by using the natural resources in the country. He called for immediately announcing energy emergency in the country.

The DPM further added that the government planned to generate 10,000 megawatt of electricity in the country in the next 10 years and import the energy. He added that the Energy Ministry would adopt immediate, mid-term and long term planning to develop the energy sector.

Cooperative’s Chairman Dilli Prasad Ghimire said the cooperative had already provided electricity to 4,579 households of the total of 6,867 in 19 VDCs located in southern part of Lalitpur. RSS
