Nepal’s second victory in ACC premier league

Kathmandu, May 2: Nepal registered their second straight win in the ACC Premier League Cricket Tournament, beating hosts Malaysia by five wickets. cricket-paras-shakti

In a match under the league held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Nepal trounced the hosts by five wickets with 75 balls to spare in the 50 overs game.

Malaysia, who won the toss and opted to bat first, set a 150-run victory target for Nepal. In reply, Nepal achieved the target in 37. 3 overs, at the loss of five wickets. Malaysia were all-out in 43 overs and 149 runs.

MehaboobAlam made the highest number of 53 runs for Nepal. He hit eight fours. Similarly, Sharad Bheswakar made 29 runs with the help of one six and three fours. Binod Bhandari and Gyanendra Malla each made 13 runs, skipper Paras Khadka 11 runs and Naresh Budhayer eight runs for Nepal.

Sompal Kami alone took five wickets, Basanta Regmi two wickets, and Mehaboob Alam, Khadka and Sagar Pun one wicket each.

Aruddin made 34 runs, Shafiq Sharif 24 and Shuharril Fetri 22 runs while Khajir Hayat and Irfan Jarbati 13 runs each for Malaysia. The rest of the Malaysian batsmen could not score double digit runs.

With this win, Nepal have collected four points. Nepal defeated the UAE by four wickets in its first match of the tournament on Thursday.

Malaysia which has so far played two matches under the tournament faced defeat in both. It lost to Oman by 74 runs in the match played yesterday.

The four top teams of the tournament would be selected for the ACC Championship to be held in the UAE in December. RSS
