Musician Jangam honoured with Narayan Gopal Music Trust Award
KATHMANDU, DEC 04 – The Narayan Gopal Music Trust has honored senior musician Deepak Jangam with this year’s Swor Samrat Smriti Award.
Musician and lyricist CK Rasaili conferred the award to musician Jangam amidst a function organised to mark the 23rd memorial day of Swor Samrat Narayan Gopal Gurubacharya on Wednesday.
Speaking at the programme, award recipient Jangam said all songs sung by veteran singer Narayan Gopal are popular and evergreen. He expressed happiness over being a recipient of the award set up after the late singer’s name.
General Secretary of the Trust, Usha Sherchan, spoke on Narayan Gopal’s contribution to Nepali music and stressed that the new generation needs to give due respect to the legendary singer.
‘Yo Samjhine Man Chha Ma Birsu Kasori’, ‘Malai Nasodha Kaha Dukchha Ghau’, ‘Parkhi Banse Aula Bhani, ‘Aankha Chhopi Narou Bhani’ are some of the evergreen songs sung by veteran singer Narayan Gopal.
