Grand ceremony to mark first Constitution Day

14 Sept, Kathmandu:

The Legislature-Parliament Secretariat is hosting a reception on September 18, on the occasion of the first anniversary of the proclamation of the Constitution of Nepal.

President Bidya Devi Bhandari is scheduled to attend the reception to be held in the premises of Legislature-Parliament in New Baneswor as a chief guest.

The parliament secretariat has already extended invitation to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, top leaders of political parties, ministers, former Prime Ministers, parliamentarians, office-bearers of constitutional bodies and chiefs and representatives of of diplomatic missions in Nepal for their presence at the ceremony.

Speaker Onsari Gharti is scheduled to address the ceremony. As many as 2,000 dignitaries will be coming together on the occasion.

Meanwhile, the government has already declared to mark Asoj 3 (September 19) as the national day on the historical occasion of the promulgation of the Nepal Constitution through Constituent Assembly.

In order to celebrate this year’s Constitution Day with great fanfare, the government has formed a main celebration committee under the leadership of Prime Minister Dahal.

The main function of the Constitution Day will be held at Sainik Munch, Tundikhel in the morning of September 19. Three sub-committees have also been formed to accomplish the ceremony in a grand manner.

Nepali people’s long-cherished dream to obtain the constitution through Constituent Assembly was materialized when the country got the Nepal Constitution on September 20 last year.

On the same occasion, the government has decided to celebrate the Constitution Day by organizing several programmes for three days from September 18 to 20.
