Extensive Pokhara Cleanup Campaign starts

The ongoing riverside cleanup campaign in the scenic city of Pokhara has transformed into an Extensive Pokhara Cleanup Campaign.
The Phirke – Bulaundi river cleanup campaign concluded on the 18th week at the Dam site in Fewa Lake following which it was decided that the campaign must be given continuity and spread to all 29 wards of the city.
An important decision was taken to turn the ongoing campaign into a Pokhara Valley Extensive Cleanup Campaign from the 19th week, Civil Society Pokhara Coordinator, Ram Bahadur Poudel said.
In the 19th week, the campaign started from the cultural heritage site at Gainghat in Pokhara – 1 and scooped up almost four tons of garbage, Society’s campaigner, Chandra Bahadur Gurung said.
The campaign spread to Bagbazaar Chowk, Taxi Chowk, Bhimkali Patan to Tundikhel in the 20th week. During the cleanup, seven tons of waste materials were collected while the locals were urged not to
dispose of garbage at public places, Namuna Aama Group’s Chairperson, Kalpana Banstola shared. RSS
