KATHMANDU: Government Spokesperson Gyanendra Bahadur Karki has clarified that Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba had not called an all-party meeting for Saturday.
“How did such information get to the media that an all-party meeting was to be convened?” he wondered, “When such a meeting has not been called at all.”
There were reports Friday evening in the media that PM Deuba called an all-party meeting after the meeting of the High-Level Political Coordination Committee concluded in Baluwatar late evening.
The CPN-UML, meanwhile, has said that it did not receive any information regarding the so-called all-party meeting convened by PM Deuba.
UML Deputy Chief of Central Publicity Department Bishnu Rijal reiterated that the UML would not agree on any action to postpone the local level elections beyond June, regardless of the ruling coalition convening an all-party meeting to discuss such a proposal.
