
Tamang siblings win gold
Kathmandu, October 22
A mixed doubles team of Nepali brother and sister on Friday clinched gold medal in the Yonex-Sunrise Pakistan International Badminton Series 2016 held in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan.
Ratnajit Tamang and his sister Nangshal defeated Pakistan’s Mohammad Irfan Sahid Bhatti and Mehmona Amin in straight sets 21 – 13 and 21 – 15 in the final to hand Nepal a historic victory, Nepal Badminton Association Deputy General Secretary, Lava Bhakta Shrestha said.
The win marks the first gold medal by a Nepal team in international badminton tournament. Earlier, in separate events, Sumina Shrestha and Puja Shrestha had won silver medals.
Nangshal Tamang also won bronze medal in women’s single event. RSS
