Some details about Mira collected from online resources
From a tiny hilltop village in Eastern Nepal, like most girls in Nepal, Mira’s young life was very active: walking to school, doing farm work, hauling water from the bottom of the hill, walking days to the market and returning with a heavy load.
Mira dropped out of school at 14 and joined Maoist rebels for two years, effectively becoming a child soldier.
Years later, Mira travelled to Kathmandu to try for success in road & track running. By chance she discovered the sport of trail and endurance running in the hills around Kathmandu, and realised that her daily life growing up – carrying water up to her village, and carry rice for seven hours to market – had prepared her for a little bit of success.
