Narayangadh-Muglin highway struck with seven landslides

12 June, Chitwan:
The Narayangadh-Muglin road stretch from Jalbire to Kalilkhola has shutdown following landslides at multiple locations from early this morning.

According to Narayangadh-Muglin Road Project engineer Shiva Khanal, the landslides occurred at 4:30 am blocking the highway.

A total of seven landslides struck within the five km road stretch from Jalbire to Kalikhola. A huge landslide has struck the Jalbire section which lies at a distance of 32 km from Narayangadh, Khanal said.

The road will remain shut for at least two hours due to the time consuming work of removing the debris.

The road is currently being expanded by trimming down the hillsides. The area is witnessing repeated landslides as the slopes have been deformed due to the construction work.

The incoming stream of traffic at both the side of the highway is on hold due to the obstruction. RSS
