Mountainous Jatayu seen in Myagdi

Mountainous Jatayu, a type of vulture, which is on the verge of disappearance, is started seen at high hilly areas in Myagdi district.

Locals said that a few numbers of Jatayu is started seen in high hilly areas after the declaring Myagdi district as Diclofenac Free District. Jatayu is on the verge of disappearance from the world due to poison-laced food, growing temperature and for lack of habitat.
Durba Paija of Chimkhola said that Jatayu are now seen at Chimkhola, Mudi and Lulang.
Technician at the District Livestock Service Office, Myagdi, Dilliram Acharya, said that a positive sign was seen in one year’ period after the ban in use of diclofenac medicine in livestock for the conservation of Jatayu after declaring the district as diclofenac free zone.

Myagdi was declared as 25th diclofenac free zone last year. Stakeholders said that a special programme was necessary for the conservation of the Jatayu. RSS
