
3 June, Kathmandu: Marathoner Baikuntha Manandhar, who continuously won three three gold medals in the South Asian Games for Nepal, has been awarded with this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award at a special function in the capital on Monday. Olympian Baikuntha Manandhar, 61, was honored with the most prestigious award during the Pulsar Sports Awards organized by the Nepal Sports Journalists Forum. Manandhar’s record of two hours, 15 minutes and three seconds recorded in 1987 SAG is still the best performance in the region. Likewise, Manandhar is the only Nepali athlete to compete in four Olympics. He could have competed in his fifth Olympics as well but denied the offer to give chances to the new generation, knowledgeable persons share.
