Fire breaks out at Panchthar-Ilam border, estimated loss stands at Rs. 50 million

6 November, Pancthar : A fire that broke out at Ranke, the border of Ilam and Panchthar on Wednesday has gutted 10 houses inflicting a loss of an estimated Rs. 50 million.
Ten houses located at Pauwasartap-7 of Panchthar and Chamauta -2 of Ilam were completely destroyed while nine other houses were partially damaged in the fire, informed Pradeepraj Kandel, Chief District Officer at Panchthar.
The fire broke out from an electric short circuit in the morning from one Karna Gurung’s house which was later taken under control by a team of fire brigade, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Nepal Army and the local residents.
Houses belonging to Prem Chemjong, Rajendra Gautam, Indra Kumar Chemjong, Bangdel Tamang, Mukti Acharya and Dil Bahadur Chemjong in Panchthar and houses of Bishnu Mukhiya, Karna Gurung, Netra Lamichane, Ramdev Rai in the Ilam were completely destroyed by the fire, DSP Deepak Pokharel said.
The owners of the houses engulfed by fire were handed Rs. 10,000 each and the victim families were given Rs. 5,000 each as relief by the District Administration Office and District Development Committees of Panchthar and Ilam.
Likewise, Nepal Red Cross Society Panchthar and Ilam and Chamber of Commerce and Industry Panchthar provided support in cash, cooking utensils and tent for the fire victims. RSS
