Development impossible without using science and technology: PM Oli

Prime Minister and Chancellor of Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST), KP Sharma Oli, has said country’s development was impossible if science and technology were not used.
Inaugurating the 33rd anniversary of the NAST here Sunday, PM and Chancellor Oli said, “It is the role of science and technology that has brought world to this stage. In order to modernize and develop Nepal scientific research is essential in various sectors as agriculture, tourism and other infrastructures.”
The PM further said the investment in science and technology is multi-dimensional, so government would augment investment for scientific research and development.
On a different note, he said with the promulgation of the new constitution, Nepalis have achieved their political, social and cultural rights. Now, time has come for economic prosperity with the unity and social harmony, argued the PM.
Vice-Chancellor of the NAST, Professor Dr Jibraj Pokhrel said NAST was going to launch a strategic plan for the development of science and technology in the country.
In the programme, the NAST conferred on various awards to different persons and institutions contributing to science and technology in the country.
Professor Dr Chhabi Lal Gajurel was awarded with NAST Award carrying the purse of Rs 200,000. Similarly, Dr Bal Krishna Joshi was conferred the Technology Award of Rs 100,000. RSS
