Basnet elected Tarun Dal’s President
Kathmandu, Nov 16: The fourth general convention of the Nepal Tarun Dal (NTD) unanimously elected Jitjung Basnet as its new President.
Basnet was elected the President of the youth wing of the Nepali Congress in the fifth day of the ongoing conclave being held in Pokhara, according to NTD Directive Committee member Ram Krishna Yadav.
Although the new president is said to be elected on the basis of consensus, the leaders were reported to have chosen a new leadership through political sharing . The post of Vice-President is assumed by Uttam Chapagain.
Similarly, Bhupendra Jung Shahi and Bidwan Gurung were elected to the post of General-Secretary and Treasurer respectively.
It is learned that the newly elected NTD President Basnet is close to NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba.Likewise, the new General-Secretary is said to be close to leader Ramchandra Poudel and the Treasurer to another leader Khum Bahadur Khadka.
As per the NTD revised statute, there should be 95 members on the Directive Committee. The name list of the remaining members will be decided by the next meeting Committee in Kathmandu, said Directive Committee member Yadav. RSS
